An innovative composition tool that allows users to visualize and manipulate musical structures, exploring the relationship between geometry and music.

APHELIAN introduces a unique sequencer concept inspired by geometry. The Standalone App interface consists of four independent instruments. In its AUv3 extension, Aphelian functions as a MIDI processor that can be utilized multiple times within the AU host to drive various audio generators.

Each geometric unit corresponds to a shape acting as a timeline. Users can draw events on the timeline to craft melodies. These shapes overlay a note map that assigns a note to each event. Gesture-based transformations enable easy manipulation of the shapes by taking full advantage of the touchscreen interface.

Any alterations to the shape result in predictable modifications in the musical composition. APHELIAN strikes a remarkable balance between enjoyable exploration and precise control, offering an organic approach to music composition.

Drawn from Johannes Kepler’s geometrical model of the solar system, wherein planets generate melodies during their orbit around the sun, creating a cosmic symphony.
